Current obsession: Mules
I mean, am I right?? This backless style shoe is trending for the summer and I’m loving it. They can be dressed up or down and can either be flat or have a sky-high heel. How easy to just slip on a pair of stylish shoes and go.
I’m not a big fan of Forever 21 shoes. Actually, I think they suck. But I found these pointed toe leather mules and thought, ok, they don’t need arch support, they don’t need cushion, they’re a simple flat, I can trust them. And I’m SO glad I did. I wear these with jeans and shorts and have even tossed on an oversized slip dress and paired these mules with it. It gives your outfit a little bit of edge without overpowering your look. Plus, there’s no back so your foot can breathe in the leather. I absolutely do NOT recommend heeled mules (or any heels) from Forever21 if you can avoid it but these were safe and are now a staple in my summer wardrobe. Not the easiest to walk in (they flop a little) but, honestly, my Louboutins aren’t exactly plush slippers either. Just don’t go for a walking tour of New York and you’re good. These are actually sold out right now but here is a similar black leather pair.
Yes, yes, YES Zara you have done it again. Zara shoes are a relatively equal price point but much better quality alternative to Forever21. I’m into summer suede (for short periods of time) and these pointed toe suede mules were perfect. They’re still backless but they tie around the ankle and have a tassel on the end. Ankle ties = zero floppage. They are very flat so not recommended if you absolutely need arch support but the suede is so soft it moves with your foot. These feel like I’m walking barefoot. Learn from my mistake though, these aren’t the best bar shoes. I wore them to a local dive bar and was so conscious of anyone spilling beer near my shoes. Wet suede smells, but suede wet from beer… “smells like Big Foot’s…” you know the rest of that line. *insert ‘Anchorman’ emoji*
These Pour La Victoire “Eva” Mules are so comfortable and so chic. LOVE the chunky heel and peep toe details. They are easy to dress up and wear to work for a full day of sitting in meetings or running around the office. You can even dress them down with a pair of slouchy boyfriend jeans and a basic white tee and head to the movies. Love the versatility and the comfort from these mules. And let’s be real, chunky heels: trending.
So these are my style tips for this summer’s hottest (pun-intended) shoe trend. Keep it MULE for the summer, Darlings!
